Virtual Schools

In the past few years many students prefer to learn from the internet or with the help of a teacher through the internet. Students prefer to study that way because it is easier for them to learn from the internet since they spend a lot of time in front of the computer, and to join a virtual class all they need to do is get the address and go on line to its site.

-

The Virtual class gives the opportunity to learn to people that don’t have the possibility to go to school and learn in the classroom like every one else and to the students that have difficulties in the classroom. Those students can go home and enter the site of theVirtual class and ask for help from the teachers or from the other students on the site .

-

Inspite of the advantages of the Virtual class, it also has a very significant disadvantage. Students that learn through the internet do not develop relationships with other people. Also, those students soend most of their time in front of the computer screen and talk with their friends on the internet, so they do not make an effort to go out side and meet them face to face.

-

I think that the Virtual class is a unique way to learn. But, all the students need to learn in a public school and use the Virtual class like assistance(phr.) in the learning process because this way it will not influence the students' social skills

A Trip to Poland

88 Pine Street
Spring Valley
December 3,2009

Mrs. Gilat Simon
Kugel High School
Principal
1 Mota Gore Street
Holon

Dear Ms. Gilat Simon,

Every year 11th graders from your school go on a trip to Poland with a group of Israeli students and teachers. I am writing because I wish to complain about the high price that parents have to pay for their children to go on a trip to Poland. This trip is very significant to Israelis and Jews and I think that it is very unfortunate that only the students that can pay that price can go on this trip.

-

First of all, as an 11th grade student, I want to go on this important journey, that includes tours to concentration camps in Poland, which is very significant to Israelis and Jews. But, because of the very high price, some students and my self will not take part in this trip to Poland.

-

In addition , Some of the students that want to go on the trip to Poland have personal reasons- a member of their family survived the Holocaust and they want to see with their own eyes what the family members went through. But, unfortunately, they can not go because of the high price.

-

In conclusion, I think that this kind of trip is very important for the students and it is unfortunate that not all the students will have the opportunity to go on this trip. I will be grateful if you consider to lower the price of the trip.

I look forward to a prompt reply.

Yours truly,
Anastasia Kostenko.
This is much better. Good work.

George

George Stoynovich is a 20 year old young man who dropped out of school when he was 16 years old. His family is an immigrant family, probably from Poland. He lives with his father and his older sister.
-
The writer describes the environment in which George grew up. He grew up in a small apartment with his father and Sophie, his sister, George’s mother died when he was a child . George is described as lazy, he does not read any books, except for the magazines, that Sophie brings from work and does not do anything useful with his life.
-
During the day, George did not go outside the apartment because he felt that people do not respect him. He went outside in the evenings to a park, the only place where he let himself dream about a better life. One evening during his walk to the park, he met Mr. Cattanzara and told him that he was reading books to improve his education, but he wasn't really reading any.Mr. Cattanzara told this to the people in the neighborhood and they started to respect George. From that point, George was fearful that people would find out the truth and stop respecting him.
-
In my opinion, George made a mistake when he told Mr. Cattanzara that he was reading books when he was not, because he took the risk that someone would discover the truth. I hope that George will have a better life and that he will finish reading all the books that he has chosen.
This is better.

A book Review

Recently I read a crime fiction book written by H.R.F Keating. Its name is “Inspector Ghote breaks an egg” .This book is a nice way to escape from the everyday life to a world of mystery.

-

The main character is inspector Ghote of the Bombay Police, that was sent to a small, distant town .He was requested to investigate the sudden death of the wife of an ambitious young politician in the small town.

-

When inspector Ghote tries to solve the mysterious death of the wife of the politician he needs to deal with lot of problems that stand between him and the solution of the death of the woman. Also, when he starts to investigate the people who were involved in some way with the case, they disappear or do not want to tell him about the death . Ghote noticed that one thing connects all of them – the young politician who now is the town chairman and also the only suspect.

-

I highly recommend reading this book. The book is interesting ,delightful and I was just fascinated by the plot of the book. I recommend This book for kids and adults as one.

Every one of us chooses every day what to eat. Some of us choose to eat healthy food, like vegetables, fruits, others eat unhealthy and processed food. In my opinion, we are responsible for our nutrition and not the food manufactories.

-

First of all, the food manufactories add to the food many unhealthy ingredient like preservatives , that can damage our body. Most manufacturers don’t care that the food they produce is not healthy. All they care of is how to sell more products and earn more money. Because of that,it is our responsibility to check what are we eat.

-

Moreover, if people want to eat healthy and nutritious food they should buy organic food without any chemical additives, that might be in processed food. Should not trust on what food manufactories writer on the food covers.

-

Finally, if we want to keep our body in good condition and be healthy, all we need to do is to pay attention of what we eat and of the quantity of the food that we eat.

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to the article “Ethiopian pupils not welcome in Petah Tikva”.I would like to express my opinion about the decision of the schools in Petah Tikva.I feel that the schools do not have the right to decide who goes to school and who does not.

-

To begin with, I think that every child has the right to go to school, no matter what theirs skin color or from where they come from. I am against the treatment that the Ethiopian students have to suffer because of theirs skin color.

-

As for the schools that is against teaching the Ethiopian students, I think that they make a mistake, and just increase the problem of Racial discrimination against the Ethiopians. In this way they prevent  from the students in those schools  connections with Ethiopians.

-

In conclusion, I hope that this problem will be solved soon, and that the students will be able to go to school without any problem.

Yours truly,

Anastasia .k.

Dilemma: Who Decides Whether Bereaved Son Should Serve?

Ilan ramon, the first Israeli astronaut , was the space shuttle pilot in the fatal mission of Columbia, where he and six other crew members were killed. Asaf Ramon, Ilan’s Ramon son, found his death, six years after his father's death, also in a plane accident. The question that comes up is: Whether Bereaved Son Should Serve?
-
I think that sons of bereaved families Should not serve in a combat position.
First, the bereaved families got through a lot of pain and sadness as a result of a lost theirs son, father or brother . From my personal experience, I know how hard it is to overcome a loss of a close and dear person to your heart.
-
Secondly, I think that this is wrong to ask bereaved families to risk another live of a family member , To send them to the army without knowing what would happen to them, and if they finish the army without getting hurt.
-
In conclusion, I am against letting Bereaved Sons, fathers or brothers to serve in a combat position. If they still want to serve in army, they can serve but not in the combat position .

Ethiopian pupils not welcome in Petah Tikva

We are all familiar with the problem of racial discrimination against the Ethiopian.
What is a racial discrimination?. Racial discrimination is treating people differently through a process of social division into categories not necessarily related to races. Unfortunately, this problem harms the education of Ethiopian kids that can't go to school .
-
Ethiopian kids was banned from religious schools in Petah Tikva. In my opinion, it is unfortunate that some people discriminate others because of their skin color, not allowing them to live a peaceful life.
-
I think that no one has the right to prevent kids from going to school and gain knowledge.
Many of these children were born in Israel and so presumably do not suffer academically for lack of Hebrew and there is no reasonable reason why they can’t go to a religious schools.
-
In conclusion, we are all equal Despite the difference in our color skin, ethnic and religious beliefs. I hope that this problem will be solved in the near future.

school uniform

In many school's students obligated to wear School uniforms . Today school uniform is a shirt with a print of the school symbol . Teacher’s and the school administration think that the school uniform is very important , but students don’t like to wear it.
-
On one hand , school uniform very important because when student’s wear the uniform they show respect to the school and to his rules.
In addition the uniform isn’t so expensive and all the students can afford it.

-
On the other hand, the school uniform isn’t so attractive and pretty, teenagers don’t like to wear it because they want to look good where ever they go.
In addition school uniform cancel the difference between the styles of the student’s.

-
In my opinion school uniform should be like in some of school’s in USA that concludes a skirt for girls pants for the boys and a jacket of the school colors, or the school uniform should be cancelled completely.

Burge McCall

In the story Burge McCall we read about a relationship between Burge McCall and his wife, Mrs. McCall. Burge McCall was a short, heavy-set man. He was very stingy, a lady killer, violent and selfish .The thing that Burge most heated(sp.) in his wife was the way that she looked at him, that made him nervous. Mrs. McCall was a tall, thin woman with black hair and big black eyes. She didn’t talk a lot and other women always called her Mrs. McCall .
-
In the firs part of the story Burge McCall and Mrs. McCall hated each other. Burge never could understand he’s(sp.) wife (Start a new sentence) when he called her names, she never answered back, unlike he’s(sp.) two first wife’s(sp.), she only looked at him. One day, Burge slapped he’s(sp.) wife on the face because he didn’t liked(gr.) the way she looked at him.
-
In the second part of the story Burge changed his attitude towards his wife. He got to taking her to the movies and to picnics. He always spoke nicely to her. Burge started to treat he’s(sp.) wife better because he thought his wife wanted to poison him with rat poison. He became a good and caring husband so MRS. McCall didn't have a reason to poison him.
-
Finally, Burge and his wife lived a happy life, inspite of all the disagreements and the problems that were between them(phr. - "...that they had.") - Is this your conclusion? It's Ok, but too short and general. And what about your opinion on the change in their relationship?.
Pay attention to your spelling and punctuation.

Homework

Many students think that homework is not necessary, and that teachers don't need to give any. The students think that homework needs to be done only in the classroom not at home.
For example, an eleven year old student from the USA wrote an essay against homework.

-

Students sometimes are not concentrated during the lesson or speak and laugh with their friends. Homework exist exactly for these students. when someone  needs to do homework’s he needs to go over the material and  this way he learns the material that he missed during the lesson.
-

Unfortunately, most students are not aware of the significances of homework. When you do the homework you understand the material better and you get more experience with the material. when the test comes the chance that you will get a high grade is higher.
-
In conclusion, homework  is necessary and important. Preparing homework not takes a lot of time but helps a lot, you understand better the material and remember it for a longer time.
Good work, but too many grammar mistakes. You tend to use the present progressive where the present simple is required. Pay attention to that and correct your work.

Outer space

Since 1975 many people are exploring the outer space. since then countries are doing every thing to be the first to discover some thing new that related to the outer space, for example in 1960's Russia and the USA competed between them witch country will send the first shuttle to the outer space and in the1969 they also competed witch country will send the first men to the moon.
Why is exploration of space so important to the humans?
-
On the one hand, space exploration is very important to the humans because it is expanding the knowledge of humanity. Thanks to space exploration humans invented many new things, like the satellites, the sunglasses were first developed by NASA. Since humans started to explore  outer space the technology advanced.
-
On the other hand, it is very dangerous and expensive to launch a shuttle to  outer space. We all witnessed the crashing of the Columbia space shuttle and the death of seven people. If it is so dangerous and expensive why do people continue with the exploration instead of investing time and money in problems that exist on Earth Like global warming and air pollution.
-
In conclusion, exploring outer space is an important thing that is expanding the knowledge of humanity, but in my opinion the money that we use for  space exploration should be
invested in improving the life on Earth.
It's a bit better, but still needs a lot of work. Read my remarks and correct your work once again. (75)

Peer Pressure

Many people pressured by they peers in different situations. So who are your peers? How they pressure on you?Peers can be your classmates or your friends. When they try to influence how you act, to get you to do something, or when they get involved and try to pressure you to go one way or another, it's called peer pressure.
-
Peers can have a positive influence. For example, Maybe another student in your class pressured on you to learn for testes. You might admire a friend who is always good in math and try to be more like him. These are examples of positive Peer pressure because you influenced by your peer for the better.

Sometimes peers influence in negative ways. For example, a few of your friend in school might try to convince you to cut class with them, or your friend might try to convince you to lie to your parents, or try cigarettes or drugs. This is a negative pressure because your peers are convincing you to do bad things.
-
In conclusion, peer pressure can be positive but also negative. Even though the negative peer pressure is existing we don't have to use negative peer pressure, instead we can use positive peer pressure and that way help each other.

15.1.09
.
Dear Mishel,
I read your letter,I understand that you dont know what to do to climb on the mountain or not. I know it seems too difficult to decide what to do when your friends are involved. So think what is more important to you, your life or a friendship.
-
I understened that you are going on a trip with your friends and that the trip includes  climbing on a very high mountain and you don't have any experience in climbing. So, you probably think that there is no solution to your problem. Why not to talk to your friends and tell them that you are afraid to be hurt in the climbing? You should not be afriad to hurt them feelings. I'm sure that they will understand you.
-
I hope that I did help  you with your problem, and that you will make the right decision for you.
Good luck and enjoy  your trip.
Anastasia

The War in Gaza

I am living in the central area of Israel and I am fifteen years old.Although I am not living in the South I know what the people that are living there have to go through every day because they are attacked by Missile of the Hamas. They are hardly able to go out of their bomb shelters,The children not able to go to school or to kindergarten. This in not a way of life, because of that I support the decision of  attacking the Hamas.I hope that this war will end soon and all the soldiers that are in Gaza will return home.
